As far as this cover is concerned, I recognize that it was meant to be satirical. But the level of humor would have been better recognized as such on the cover of MAD magazine.

My only problem with this cover is that very few of the voters in this country are made up of said "intelligent people." Consider that, according to a recent poll, 15% of Americans still believe that Obama is Muslim. (Just for the sake of perspective, 1% believe Obama is Jewish and 20% believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth.) To reinforce the smears of the right wing like this will only embolden the idotic segment of our population that doesn't even know what satire is.

Just a note on flip flopping. I don't mind when a candidate occasionally changes their mind on an issue. That's what happens when rational, intelligent people react to changing conditions and new information. Flip-flopping is what happens when a candidate reverses their position on an issue not because circumstances have changed, but to pander to a group of voters or as a reaction to the plotical climate. There are admittedly a few issues on which I feel Obama has flip flopped. By way of comparison, McCain has literally done a 180 on over 40 issues.

dont get me wrong ,John McCain is not the best candiate that we could have selected , his flaws are numerous , but compared to Obama .....i will hold my nose and vote for him .

The mystery has been cleared up about what else Jesse Jackson said last week when he made his crude remarks about Barack Obama.

The previously unreported comment, disclosed Wednesday morning by the TVNewser blog, was:

Barack ... hes talking down to black people ... telling [black people] how to behave. Only Jackson used the plural form of the n-word, not black people, in the second part of his comment.

Initially, the firestorm was over comments Jackson made to a guest before a July 6 interview on "Fox & Friends."

The civil rights leader whispered that Obama was "talking down to black people" and that Jackson wanted to "cut his nuts off."

The comments went unnoticed in the control room, Fox News said. But, as reported by The Times Matea Gold in a story published Friday, an employee working the overnight shift transcribed the tape, and the remarks that first caused the stir were reported several days later on Foxs "The OReilly Factor." Then, as The Ticket reported, there was a controversy over exactly what Jackson said he wanted to do.

At the time, host Bill OReilly told viewers the network had decided to air only portions of what Jackson had said, adding there was "more damaging" material, too. That gave rise to rumors that Jackson had used the n word - and aimed it directly at Obama.

In a Wednesday afternoon interview with fellow Fox host Shepard Smith, OReilly said he had withheld the n-word remark because, Im not in the business of creating some kind of controversy thats not relevant to the general subject -- one civil rights leader disparaging another over policy.

But why did OReilly mention in the first place that he had more damaging material?

In a one-sentence statement offered as a reply, OReilly said Wednesday: We tell the audience the full breadth of everything we report on. There was no elaboration on why the full breadth didnt include the actual comment.

As for how the n-word comment eventually got out, OReilly told Smith that some weasel leaked it to the Internet.

'My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq . This action will be complete wit hin 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

i dont watch Fox news - i have not had a connection from the world to my TV since 1985 just CDs and DVDs .

that does not mean that i live in a vacuum or that i dont read .
     how can any sane voter see this stuff and seriously consider voting for the racist freshman senator from illinois ?

Feel free to NOT vote for Barack Obama because of some idea that you have that he is racist.

That does not make your statements right.

Your blatant racism in your "joke" gives a bad name to the good people in the Republican party ... cause there are some ... but people see your misinformed rhetoric and believe that's what the GOP stands for.

Just ran into a couple interesting news stories to add leverage to the concept of the GOP being a tad bit racist.

Read 'em ... then tell me who's racist, Mike.

Story 1 - Congressman calls Obama "uppity." A second calls him "that boy."

Story 2 - African American GOP delegate refused bathroom access at convention.

Of course, both stories were printed by the "liberal media," so I'm sure you won't believe them, Mike.

Sandra Palin's qualifications are subpar, and the choice of making her a V.P. was clearly oppurtunistic and shrewed. But what else do you expect from the political machine that clearly wants to win? There is nothing wrong about wanting to win. In politics everything goes.

I kind of think that McCain should run with Biden instead. Now that would be a ticket!

And I want to ask Mike a question or two about the Bush administration.

Where are all those "insiders" who supported and prosecuted the war in Iraq on the posit that there were weapons of mass destruction there? i.e. Donald Rumsfeild, Colin Powell, and Paul Wolfawitz?

Do you feel like you were lied too, or do you think that the war was justified no matter if there was weapons or not?

And finnally, what kind of pudding?

That is hilarious. How can one person be another, and how does that argument make sense? His selling point is that he is not Baraq Obama? If he is Baraq Obama, then who would Baraq Obama be? McCains selling point is that he is not someone else?

In a marketing sense Sandra Palin was a good pick, but in reality her qualifications are just not up to the caliber of Joe Bidens. I am convinced that she was picked by the RNC not John McCain. If she was Senator McCain's pick; then what is his executive cabinet going to look like?

And don't assume you know who "my" candidate is. I am a member of the Independent Party and I will wait till after the debates to chose a candidate that best reflects my ideals and wishes.

Namely: The decriminaliztion of Marijauna* for research and medical use, affordable healthcare, education reform, self relient energy, an intellegence system that protects America without spying on Americans, due process for military prisoners(POWs), lifting the travel and trade bans on Cuba, immigration reform, and transparence and acountability in Government.
