Yesterday on Dialog, I discussed the book Montana 1948 - part of Newfane's required Summer reading for students going into 11th grade.

As I mentioned, the book has at least two sections that certain parents (and students) may find objectionable.

What are your thoughts on the topic? Is graphic description of a woman's anatomy and rape okay for a school book? Or no?

This topic will have legs, I think. Rumor has it Channel 2 is working on a story about it.

You would hope that by the time most kids are in 11th grade they would be mature enough to handle something of this nature. While I haven`t read the book, I can`t imagine it being as bad as what they have available to them at anytime on DVD, the Internet, and TV.
