So What!

President Bush recently sat down with ABCs Martha Raddatz for an exit interview in Iraq recently in which she asked Bush about his legacy.

BUSH: One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take--
RADDATZ: But not until after the U.S. invaded.
BUSH: Yeah, that's right. So what?

"So what?" Did the leader of the free world attempt to justify the most failed military blunder in history by saying "so what?" Read through the exchange again, and imagine you are a parent, child or spouse of one of the 4,000 deceased American soldiers. "So what?" Or of the hundreds of thousands of injured, displaced or dead Iraqi victims of this occupation. "So what?" His arrogant smirk and dismissive demeanor in the face of utter incompetance are proof positive that this man is a souless cretin and he must be treated as such.

And he is not alone.

Earlier this year, on the fifth anniversary of our invasion of Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney exhibited the same contemptuous, indifferent attitude to the same reporter.

CHENEY: On the security front, I think there's a general consensus that we've made major progress, that the surge has worked. That's been a major success.
RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it's not worth fighting.
CHENEY: So?
RADDATZ: So? You don't care what the American people think?
CHENEY: No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.

* Sigh *

If I was within throwing distance of these two despots, I'd sacrifice my shoes as well. And they're steel-toed. I'd make sure I used the laces like a sling handle and burn those puppies over the plate at about 90mph. Well, probably not. I don't condone the use of violence against these vile SOB's. But I sure as hell understand it.

There is little-known but renowned documentary from the 70's about WWII called "The Sorrow and the Pity." It highlights, among other things, the people of Clermont-Ferrand, an average-sized town not far from Vichy, the center of French collaboration with the Nazis. They show footage of well-dressed, cuplable townspeople being forced to help clean-up after their Nazi guests. People who lived in the shadow of concentration camps, who could smell the execution furnaces day and night, but did nothing to stop them. These arrogant, indifferent people were made to tear down the fences and help dispose of the victims they ignored by the victorious allies.

Wouldn't the unsurpassable example of poetic justice be that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were made to clean up a neighborhood mistakenly bombed by our military? Or that they worked long hours until every school, business, home, hospital and road in Iraq is rebuilt. Perhaps their government pensions and personal fortunescould go instead to the families whose lives were destroyed by this uneccesary military action. Compulsary time spent in hard manual labor rectifying the horrible consequences of their insolence, short-sightedness and greed.

And then will come the criminal trials for their numerous transgressions against the American people, against foreign neighbors, and against humanity. If found guilty, they will deservedly spend their remaining days in prison for crimes against humanity. Perhaps they could be waterboarded daily, since it's not cruel or unusual. These men cannot simply waltz off stage to retire in comfort after intentionally and viciously ruining so many people's lives.

Strangely, though, MC, these guys seem to think that not caring about what others think or feel ... is a good thing.

It was right there in Cheney's answer: "We don't govern by polls."

A change will do us good.

I just saw the Scariest Conservative in America on the Today Show...Ann Coulter. She makes Limbaugh look little league....the host of the show ended the conversation with "It has been said of you the more you talk, the less sense you make...." And she shot back with "Those are from people who don't sell as many books as I do...!"...THE LIBERAL ASSAULT ON AMERICA I believe is the book she wrote....I'm sure available at all Dittohead Publishing outlets everywhere.....
"So What!" is the only answer these idiots can come up with....
