AIG Bonus fiasco ...

President Obama and the feds are pretty upset over the plan for AIG executives to recieve about $165 million in bonuses.

I think this is not only understandable, but reasonable.

Why should a failed company such as AIG grant bonuses to those captaining the FAILboat? Why should we - the US Taxpayers - be paying that bonus.

With the amount of money the US gave to AIG, we now own about 80 percent of that company. Eighty ... percent.

Those bonuses should have to be approved by us, don't you think?

I like the idea of taxing these arrogant jerks 100% on their bonuses....its nice to see a president who funnels the responsibility to himself...Buck stops here mentality hasn't been seen since I don't know when...Harry Truman? Sorta throws water on the political sqabbling that usually happens at these times of he said she said...
This is the result of the deregulation of banks and profit margins that were set for many years for this very reason....GREED. Absolute power corrupts absolutely...Steinbeck taught us all that in seventh grade...

We don't really own 80% of the company. There's no government officials on the boards of these banks.

What really suprises me is that the people haven't risen as one and slain these executives.
