This story (link) says that a Syrian state-run newspaper is calling President Obama's request for Congressional approval on military action against Syria "the start of the historic American retreat."
Given the U.S.'s war-mongering history, why would they want to bait us like that? Do they genuinely think we're weak? Doubtful. Do they think they could "win?" I can't imagine. Do they want us bogged down in yet another war in the region? Maybe. And that's one of many reasons we shouldn't take the bait. Let them think we're weak. In fact, if they portray us as weak, it goes against the whole "great Satan" thing ... and may reduce the number of terrorist recruits.
Most polls say the American people don't want to go to war. We're spread thin. We're war weary. And for the record, we don't have a "department of war" ... we have a "department of defense." This isn't defense.
